2019 South Korean Study tour
On the last day of our study tour we hung out on the Han River, visited the war museum, packed our suitcases, had a huge feast of delicious Korean food and prepared for a 5am start on Friday. We arrived home safe and sound at 8am Saturday. Thank you to all of the students, this was a truly magnificent tour. You were excellent ambassadors for your schools, the School of Languages and you left everyone you met with lasting, positive impressions of young Australians abroad. Well done! You can be proud of yourselves.

We are all home, safe and sound, and back to school today. However, I just realised that we missed the Hanbok photographs from the Namsan Hanok Village. So I will attach them here. Thank you students for your wonderful participation in an amazing tour! :-) We started at 10 o'clock in the morning. First we went to Samsung D'light, the Samsung Future Technologies Exhibition. The main exhibition was closed due to a public holiday, but we still got to use the whole-body massage chairs and rode a Virtual Reality roller coaster. Then we traveled to Gangnam food-street, we had lunch and took a photo with Psy.
We then all traveled to SM-Town, which is a big K-pop centre where we went to a library and looked around. We all found our own way home back to Myoengdong to get ready to see the to the Nanta show. Nanta is a super high-intensity drumming show using kitchen utensils as drums. It was very funny and everyone laughed a lot and had a great time. As it was our 2nd to last night in Korea, we all got to choose our own dinners and had free time to do those things we feel like we hadn't got to do yet. Amy and I decided to go shopping and explore more. Overall today was really fun. Today we woke up in our newest accommodation with a breezy chill. The weather was really good and perfect for a hike. We had breakfast in our guest house and by 08:20 we all met and set off for the mountain.
On the bus ride to the mountain we saw our teacher, Parky 샘's childhood house. When we reached the mountain, Mireuksan, we split into two groups; the people who wanted to hike upto the summit and the ones who were going to take the cable car. I was part of the hiking group. The hike up the mountain was very tough; it was very steep and rocky. We had to stop for many breaks. Half way up the mountain we found a water fountain; the water was cool and refreshing. When we reached the top we met the other group and we got the opportunity to look around many islands surrounding the area. The teachers told us there were 140 islands in total in that area. After some sight seeing we climbed down the mountain which was relatively a very easy walk. We left the mountain and went to see the famous turtle ships but, unfortunately, they were closed. Since everyone was tired from the hike, the teachers gave us 3 hours to relax and have lunch to regain our energy. At 3 pm we gathered together and left for Jinju. During the 1 hour bus ride there, it had already started raining. We stayed at the Jinju Lantern Festival for more than 2 hours. The different displays were bright and beautiful. The rain continued to pour down but we were able to buy umbrellas and rain ponchos and enjoyed very much. There were snack stalls from all around the world and we all had different tastes. At 6 pm the lanterns were finally lit and the walkway under them was very pretty. We left the lantern festival soaking wet and feeling very tired. When we reached to Tongyeong we had dinner together and then headed off to our rooms. The lantern festival was absolutely mesmerising and I hope everyone gets a chance to experience it atleast once in their life. 2019.10.05
We went ice skating with the whole family which was really fun. Afterwards me and my sister went shopping and we took lots of pictures at a studio with different props. We also went arcade gaming and to karaoke. We came home and had a spicy noodle challenge (I won!). Later on all of us rode a bike to 바다 and had fireworks and some korean snacks. We then finished the night off with some face masks with the whole family. 2019.10.06 At breakfast our father was telling us life motos. The one that stood out most to me was that when you are standing on the ground it is just the ground but when you start walking that ground turns into your path so you need to make effort and create your own path. We will go to a dog Cafe and relax today at home with some board games and video games. Yesterday Jimin’s mum took Jimin, Heju(Jimin’s sister) and me to House of Changwon and the history museum. We all walked around and they told me about the history of Changwon. Next we went to a beautiful flowers field with sunflowers and purple and orange cosmos, and took lots of pictures there. We went to eat lunch at a famous restaurant called Soban and ate galbi. Afterwards we went to Haeyang drama set and saw where lots of Korean movies and dramas were filmed. We went shopping in the evening as well.
Today I went to see the movie Joker with Jimin and her friend Chaeun. We went to a pc room afterwards and played overwatch and I’m pretty sure I died about 6 times. We ate tteokbokki for lunch. Me and my partner Yeni, went to a lot of places where she will go with friends in spare time. The first place is 인생네컷(insaengnekeos), it is a place to take picture with different crops. And we went to eat 뒷고기 (back meat pork), afterwards we went to Baskin-Robbins for ice cream. The next day, we went to two cafe shop which are comic cafe and art cafe. In the art cafe, it provides free postcards for customers and we draw each other pictures in the postcard and exchange. Then we went to school.
Yesterday my homestay and I hung out with Ava and her buddie and went shopping! Then we went out to dinner with her family to an all plant based restaurant then to a small cafe for cold drinks! Today we went to a museum and then to ‘The Cloud Cafe’ where we saw an amazing view!!!
Yesterday we went to see the joker and today we went to a Buddhist temple then balling and then we had pizza.
Today we also went to a shooting range and the beach
